Recently, I heard this fascinating tidbit and followed up &#8212; it appears to be true!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=floatRight src=\"http:\/\/www.motorola.com\/staticfiles\/Consumers\/CLP\/US-EN\/img\/motoRed.png\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motorolasolutions.com\/US-EN\/About\/Company+Overview\/History\/Timeline#1930\">Motorola&#8217;s own timeline<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nIn 1930 Galvin Manufacturing Corporation introduced the Motorola radio, one of the first commercially successful car radios. Company founder Paul V. Galvin created the brand name Motorola for the car radio &#8212; linking &#8220;motor&#8221; (for motorcar) with &#8220;ola&#8221; (which implied sound).
